![]() Prior to that, Kemek had a number of musical projects, from industrial to dance, but none were all that successful. Actually, none were successful at all. It wasn't until Kemek and Hak hooked up with San Francisco label Silent Records that things began to take off. A number of singles and albums were released under a variety of names (the aforementioned 303 Terrorists, DTS, and Deeper Than Space being the most prominent). As Deeper Than Space, his ambient solo project, he was able to explore the more drone-based side of music as well as play a number of live gigs. Kemek and Hak paired up again in 1997 to record "Dark Victory" under the name Gundam for XLR8R Records' "Bad Breaks" compilation. The track was one of the first tech step tracks released in the United States. After moving from his native San Francisco to Los Angeles in 2001, Kemek threw himself full-time into breaks. Music production and DJing took precedence and soon he was able to launch Dope Computer Records. The first release, "Future Modular"/"Are You Now?" was a success, leading to the release of "Angel Dust"/"Room To Breathe" on San Francisco imprint Muti Music as well as the remix EP, "Remixing The Dope Computer." The future looks strong for Kemek the Dope Computer, with interest growing across the United States and in the UK. "Future Modular" appeared on "Play It Rough 2" on Airdog Records, with future releases and remixes on Moving Target, Sponge Records, and more. A new label, Roke Records, is also in the works. Kemek is a resident at Los Angeles breaks weekly Boom Box. He has also played at Dragon Lounge in San Diego, at Broken and other parties in San Francisco, and at various locations across the West Coast, headlining as well as opening for 2 Sinners, The Cry.
