Biography :
Existing of 2 members, Marc and Pierre,there is an impressive background to the both of us.
Marc started about 16 years ago as a new wave/alternative dj with roots in the punk and hardrock scene, putting the focus on the dark electronic side(klinik,front 242,kraftwerk,nitzer ebb,etc...). Skipping the age of the new-beat comedy,a new horizon was discovered:HOUSE or what we know now as RETRO. By the time retro was becoming retro,it was time for change.
The change came in the form of TECHNO,not to forget ELECTRO(wich was and will never be away,just like the mighty sound of ACID). But...after a few years playing,the techno-drive had his peaks and started falling into a boring style,not to mention the fucked up scene.
This is when we met,Pierre,the Brazillian techno dj,who started with deep house,acid and 70's funk
and Marc. At that time P.was not so long in the techno scene and he was fully exploring that side.
Meanwhile,Marc discovered something amazing(at that time). Indeed,DRUM'n'BASS.
So,we share this experience and start playing out together aswell as seperately,techno,d'n'b and acid. Again,this music(d'n'b)wich was so innovating the first years seemed to be losing it's freshness. One day(must be 3,5 years ago),we witnessed a new sound,combining just about any style we like. It was a dj-set by no-one else than the mighty ADAM FREELAND. This was it, this was the missing link,but there was 1 major problem,RECORDS. In the whole of our country(BELGIUM) we couldn't find 1 record,exept for the FREQ NASTY album P. found somewhere in a shop.With not knowing where to get our choonz, we had to do something completely different now.
Again we found a collective interest,the mother of all bass-driven music, REGGAE, dub, roots, dancehall ragga. This is where it really started,RISING UNITY SOUNDSYSTEM was born.
We played alongside some of the worlds biggest sounds as there are COXSONE,DADDY RIBSEY'S, POW POW and many more. Untill last year,when we surprisingly found NU-SKOOL BREAKS in our poor shops. That was the moment to make our definitive descision to leave the reggae to the Jamaicans (no-one can do it better than a Jamaican)and start what we had to do since we saw Adam's set. So we added all our musical histories together,divided it by ourselves and this is the
result, Belgiums 1st ever BREAKBEAT SOUNDSYSTEM a.k.a THE RISING UNITY of BASSWORX(now you know why this name).
If you've read the bio. you've also seen that we were in many places and scenes. In Belgium however, we don't have a real breaks scene yet,but WE ARE BUILDING IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
