the alias 'Dj Wreck', Salim Rafiq has assaulted even Miami's most
veteran B-Boys with his signature future-bass onslaught. Insomniac
Records' offshoot and Rafiq's brainchild, Napzzz Music, is causing
quite a stir in the breakbeat community. Wreck's electro-soaked Hoe
Magnet EP received positive reviews from plenty of top break-heads
including Simply Jeff, Hyper, and Storm. The record is a mix between
classic Miami Bass and futuristic glitch-experiments.Fellow bass enthusiasts, Fuel Records, were so impressed by Rafiq's style that they choose him to be the first American on their elite UK label. Winter of 2002 saw Rafiq is on tour with the Fuel crew for their Sound Off 2 Tour. Tipper, Rafiq, and Cosmik Neil devestated bassbins all over North American including a storming appearance at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Rafiq has mixed the upcoming Sound Off 2 compilation for Fuel; the 12"s are already out doing much damage. Between collaborations with Phoenecia and remixes of NuBreaks' own E.V.A.C., you can count on Rafiq to blur the lines between experimental funk and freeform electro.
